ARSON INFORMATION REWARD PROGRAM RULES

1) A reward fund has been established by the Ohio FAIR Plan Underwriting Association. Rewards are offered from this fund by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the identification of person(s) responsible for arson fires in Ohio.

2) The program will run until further notice from Ohio FAIR Plan. Rewards will be reviewed and paid in accordance with the "Program Rules."

3) Nominations for rewards can be accepted from any law enforcement officer (fire, police or public agency) charged with the responsibility of investigating fires; or any prosecutor, or any officer of an insurance company licensed to write insurance in Ohio.

4) Anonymity of the nominee may be protected if the nominator offers an acceptable explanation to the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee Rewards Review Committee and is willing to make a sworn statement assuring Program Rules have not been violated.

5) Those ineligible to receive a reward are: members of the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee, staff of the Ohio FAIR Plan Underwriting Association, insurance industry employees, public officials, law enforcement (fire, police or public agency), prosecuting personnel and the families of any of these people.

6) Rewards will be granted semi-annually by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee. The Rewards may vary in the amount up to $5,000, dependent upon the significance of the information submitted for consideration. Rewards applications are accepted throughout the year and there are bi-annual meetings of the Rewards Review Committee to consider the applications.

7) The Program incorporates the use of a dramatic sign being posted on property damaged by arson. Signs may be posted by Fire Service and/or Law Enforcement personnel only.

8) No promises will be made by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee, or on behalf of the Committee, that rewards will be granted. In addition, no promises will be made by, or on behalf of the Committee concerning specific amounts of a reward. The Program is voluntary and the decision to participate is left to the discretion of the nominator.
